The customer required 17-4PH stainless steel round bar for machined components needing a controlled balance of strength, hardness and corrosion resistance. The central procurement issue was the delivery and final heat-treatment condition because mechanical properties change significantly between Condition A and aged conditions such as H900, H1025 or H1150.

| Item | Project Requirement |
|---|---|
| Destination | United States |
| Material | 17-4PH / UNS S17400 / EN 1.4542 |
| Standard | ASTM A564/A564M or AMS 5643 |
| Form | Round bar |
| Condition | Condition A or aged condition |
| Processing | Saw cutting, peeling, grinding or rough machining |
| Inspection | MTC, dimensions, hardness and UT if ordered |
| Quantity / Delivery | 165TON/105DAY |
The machining plan required consistent diameter, straightness and allowance. The largest technical risk was assuming that all 17-4PH bar has the same hardness and machinability. Standard, melt route, heat-treatment condition, grain flow and NDT requirements also needed confirmation.

Insert the confirmed machining yield, dimensional acceptance and material-document result.

Higher-strength aged conditions are not universally better. H900 generally provides higher strength and hardness, while overaged conditions such as H1150 may offer improved toughness and stress-corrosion behavior. Final condition must follow the component design and specification.
Send the standard, diameter, condition, tolerance, cut length, machining allowance, hardness, UT class, quantity and destination.
