Shaanxi Shangyou Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. supported a chemical-equipment fabricator requiring traceable 316L stainless steel plate for vessels and process components. The purchasing priority was not simply obtaining plate in several thicknesses; the buyer needed consistent grade identification, controlled dimensions, clean surfaces and documents that could be matched to each delivered item.

The plates were intended for fabricated equipment exposed to a corrosive process environment. The customer therefore needed molybdenum-bearing 316L rather than a visually similar general-purpose grade. Key risks included grade mixing, inconsistent cut dimensions, surface damage during handling and incomplete heat-number traceability after cutting. Final material suitability still depended on the actual chemical concentration, temperature, contaminants and cleaning regime.

The release package can include the MTC, PMI record, dimensional report, packing list and traceability photographs when agreed in the purchase order. The final case should state only verified results, for example.

316L provides better resistance to chloride pitting than 304, but it is not automatically suitable for concentrated chlorides, strong reducing acids or high-temperature chloride service. For more severe environments, compare 904L, duplex 2205, super duplex 2507 or a nickel alloy after reviewing actual service conditions.
