Precision strip is defined by more than grade and thickness

Shaanxi Shangyou Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. supplies precision stainless steel strip for springs, clips, stampings, formed components, electronic parts and industrial assemblies. The complete order defines the material designation and product standard together with thickness, thickness tolerance, slit width, width tolerance, temper or mechanical-property range, surface and edge condition. Two coils of the same nominal grade can behave differently in a forming tool if hardness, flatness, camber, edge burr or winding condition is not controlled. The RFQ therefore connects material properties with the component process.

Slitting, inspection and coil control

Incoming coil identity is retained through slitting and recoiling. Knife setup, strip tension and edge condition are selected for the width, thickness and required burr limit. Inspection can include thickness, width, hardness or tensile properties, camber, flatness, surface, edge profile and burr. Coil inside diameter, outside diameter, weight, winding direction, eye orientation and joint allowance are recorded where required. Narrow or sensitive strip is protected against edge damage, moisture and coil collapse, then labeled by grade, heat, size, condition and package number.

What component manufacturers should specify

Buyers should state the grade and standard, thickness and tolerance, slit width and tolerance, temper or hardness range, tensile or yield requirement where applicable, flatness and camber limit, edge type, burr limit, surface, coil ID, maximum OD and weight, winding direction, permitted joints, sampling plan and packaging. A sample, part drawing or forming description helps identify edge and property risks. Shangyou can coordinate the strip supply, slitting, inspection and coil package, while final die design and forming validation remain with the component manufacturer.
