Before releasing an ASTM A312 TP316L pipe order, Shaanxi Shangyou Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. compares the purchase order with the material certificate, physical marking and packing list. The review covers the specified standard edition, TP316L designation, manufacturing route, dimensions, heat treatment, quantity and required tests. ASTM A312/A312M covers seamless, welded and heavily cold-worked austenitic stainless steel pipe. Those routes are not interchangeable in a controlled order, so the quotation and final document package identify the ordered route rather than referring only to 'stainless steel pipe.'

Quality personnel check outside diameter or nominal pipe size, wall thickness at agreed locations, length, straightness where specified, end condition and visible surface condition. Marking is compared with the heat number and order line. Additional PMI, ultrasonic, eddy-current, radiographic, hydrostatic or other examinations are included only when required by the governing standard, purchase order or approved inspection plan.
