2507 stainless steel is a super duplex stainless steel that combines the advantages of ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel, with excellent corrosion resistance and high strength.
Mechanical Properties and Heat Treatment
The mechanical properties of 2507 stainless steel are excellent, with a tensile strength of 795 MPa, a yield strength (Rp0.2) of 550 MPa, and an elongation of 15%. In the delivery state, the bars are solution treated and the plates are solution pickled. The hardness test shows that the HBW hardness after solution treatment is 227 and the HRB hardness is 29.
Made of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum and 7% nickel, 2507 stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant and suitable for applications below 600°F. It is widely used in the petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries due to its high strength, corrosion resistance and resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
The chemical composition of 2507 stainless steel includes low carbon content (C ≤ 0.030), moderate silicon (Si ≤ 0.80), manganese (Mn ≤ 1.20), phosphorus (P ≤ 0.035), sulfur (S ≤ 0.020), high chromium (Cr: 24.00～26.00%), nickel (Ni: 6.00～8.00%), molybdenum (Mo: 3.005.00%), nitrogen (N: 0.240.32%) and copper (Cu ≤ 0.5%). The duplex microstructure of this alloy ensures its excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high strength.
