Precision Stainless Steel Strip with Tight Tolerance and Custom Width
Shaanxi Shangyou Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. supplies precision stainless steel strip for buyers who need more than a nominal thickness and width. The production specification can include thickness tolerance, slit-width tolerance, temper or hardness, camber, edge condition, burr direction, surface quality, coil ID and maximum coil weight for repeatable stamping and forming operations.
| Parameter | Specification / Guidance |
|---|---|
| Product Form | Precision cold rolled strip / precision slit coil |
| Grade Options | 301, 304, 304L, 316L and other suitable grades |
| Typical Thickness | 0.03-1.50 mm reference range; capability confirmed by RFQ |
| Typical Width | 3-500 mm reference range after slitting |
| Tolerance | Project-specific; no single blanket tolerance applies to all gauges and widths |
| Temper / Hardness | Annealed to cold-worked conditions depending on grade |
| Edge | Slit, deburred, rounded/conditioned where feasible |
| Control Items | Thickness, width, burr, camber, surface, coil geometry |
| Inspection | Micrometer/gauge measurement, width inspection, hardness/mechanical checks as specified |
| Documents | MTC / EN 10204 3.1 when specified; dimensional, surface and hardness reports; PMI available where technically appropriate. |
| Parameter | Specification / Guidance |
|---|---|
| Grade / UNS / EN | Available in 301, 304, 316L and other suitable grades |
| Applicable Standards | ASTM A240/A240M or ASTM A666/A666M as applicable; ASTM A480/A480M general requirements; EN 10088-2; ISO 9445-1/-2 for dimensional tolerances according to production route. |
| Inspection Documents | MTC / EN 10204 3.1 when specified; dimensional, surface and hardness reports; PMI available where technically appropriate. |
A precision strip order should define the functional characteristics that affect the customer’s line: gauge consistency, slit width, edge quality, camber, coil build, hardness and surface. A very tight thickness target is of limited value if burr, coil telescoping or width variation causes feeding problems.
The appropriate tolerance level depends on material strength, thickness-to-width ratio, slit width, temper and production route. For this reason, Shangyou confirms the tolerance package against the actual RFQ instead of advertising one universal “±0.005 mm” claim across all strip products.
Choose 301 when cold-worked strength and spring response are dominant; 304 when balanced forming and general corrosion resistance are needed; 316L when the service environment requires improved pitting resistance relative to 304. Precision rolling or slitting does not change the fundamental corrosion limitations of the selected grade.
| Parameter | Specification / Guidance |
|---|---|
| Slitting / Cutting | Precision slitting, cut-to-width and rewinding according to grade, gauge and coil configuration. |
| Edge Processing | As-slit, deburred or conditioned edge where the requested dimensions and application allow. |
| Testing | Dimensional inspection, surface inspection, hardness/mechanical checks as specified; PMI or third-party inspection can be arranged where appropriate. |
| Documentation | MTC / EN 10204 3.1 when specified; dimensional, surface and hardness reports; PMI available where technically appropriate. |
| Packing | Moisture-proof paper or film, edge protection, steel strapping and export pallet/wooden case as required. Coil eye orientation and maximum package weight can be agreed before shipment. |
| Price Basis | Price is determined by grade, thickness, width, temper/hardness, surface, tolerance, edge condition, coil configuration, order quantity, inspection and packing requirements, plus current stainless raw-material/alloy costs. |
| Supply Status | Stock, regular production or made-to-order depending on grade, dimensions, temper, finish and inspection requirements. |
Upload your drawing or send thickness, width, tolerance, burr, camber, temper/hardness, surface, coil ID and monthly demand. We will return a production feasibility and quotation basis.
Precision strip is controlled against agreed dimensional, mechanical, edge, surface and coil-handling requirements rather than only nominal size.
No. Achievable tolerances depend on thickness, width, grade, temper and processing route and must be confirmed per RFQ.
Yes. If strip tracking is critical, include camber or straightness requirements in the purchase specification.
Where the slitting route allows, burr direction and/or maximum burr can be defined in the order.
301, 304 and 316L are frequent choices, but the correct grade depends on strength, forming and corrosion requirements.
Yes, subject to minimum practical slit width for the requested thickness, temper and edge condition.
The inspection method and sampling plan can be agreed; precision orders commonly use calibrated thickness measurement at defined positions.
Yes. Depending on the governing standard and grade, tensile strength, yield strength or hardness targets may be more appropriate.
It can be discussed for surfaces where film is suitable and does not interfere with downstream processing.
Send drawing/specification, annual or monthly volume, coil size limits, tolerance package and any line-feeding requirements so the supply condition can be stabilized.
