Packing begins with product and route risk

Stainless steel is corrosion resistant but can still be scratched, dented, contaminated or distorted by poor handling. Protection differs by product form

Sheet and plate packages use flat support, face separation and protected edges. Coils and precision strip require suitable eye orientation, banding, moisture protection and supports that do not deform the coil. Pipe and bar bundles need evenly spaced supports, protected ends and lifting points that match the length and mass. Profiles require packing that protects open legs, flange edges and accurate cross-sections. Nickel alloy and polished products may need additional separation from carbon-steel contact. When wood packaging is used, treatment and marking follow the applicable import requirements for the destination.

What buyers should define before packing

The RFQ should state the shipping mode, destination port or address, Incoterm, maximum package weight, permitted package length, container unloading method, long-term storage conditions and any seaworthy-case requirement. Buyers should also identify protective-film preferences, individual-piece labels, bundle or case marking, desiccant or vapor-barrier needs and destination wood rules.
